Greening and Nutrition

| Greening and Nutrition

Environment is one (another is learning) of key and growing aspects of CEPP’s work: effort is to combine learning and greening. Greening denotes our work around environment – bio-diversity to climate change – as an existential skill. It focuses on three aspects: greening and cleaning school premises as much as possible, encouraging kitchen garden to parents as a reinforcement to nutrition and greening settlements and emphasizing existing ecological skills to children – growing food with ecological means and traditional skills that are tuned to local environmental conditions. To this affect, it has produced a correlation table, where environment can be taught in existing curricula and textbooks.

To the extent possible, the organization strives to live by example with minimalism: reduce, reuse and recycle. Single use plastic is greatly discouraged. All the projects have ‘officehold’ where kitchen garden is practiced and a tree nursery is operated both for greening and learning.

There is a Greening Coordinator who runs from project to project providing technical support and monitoring (anti-) greening actions if they take place.  Emphasis on greening is obvious in all the work but the good marriage between greening and learning is a constant challenge!
